Finding new roleplayers

Why is it so hard to find new gamers in our area?? We have a regular game we play on Saturdays, and my bf has been trying to find some new, reliable ppl to join our group. But alas, he's had no luck. He tried meetup.com for a little bit, got a little response, but no one stuck. The two guys that showed up, only showed up one night, and then dropped off the face of the earth, and just when I thought we'd have another female to game with, her and her husband decided that Madison was too far to drive from every week! WTF?? It's only about 30-45 mins away from us, depending on traffic, and my bf drives that twice a day, 5 days a week to work!! And you can't do it once a week?! Whatever. My poor man has just about given up on trying to find new gamers, and he's just about given up on gaming in general. All he wants to do is play, but he always ends up running most of the games cuz none of the other guys want to fu^$%# do it. I'm beginning to get sick of it, and I'm almost ready to give up on gaming as well. All I want are some new females to game with (and as a plus to be friends with). Is that too much to ask?? ремонт стиральных машин

I have the same problem.

I have the same problem. Even if you find people there are usually issues with times and dates that can break a group apart (my current one meets only once a month). Is there a college in your area? If so, you might want to scour that for SCA gatherings, Anime meetings, or RPG clubs, for potential players. The game store add, works as well, though you don't always know what kinda person you invite to your table. I also once met (or better uncovered) a player by hosting a Firefly marathon, for colleagues and friends.

If all else fails try online Play by Post or chat room games. There are many sites that offer them, and some GMs/players even prefer them to tabletops (gives more room for rping).

Given the price of fuel

Given the price of fuel these days, I'd probably limit my driving for games to less than 30 minute drives and even then it'd be every other week or once a month. Then again, that's just because I'm frickin' cheap Laughing out loud

Are there any game stores in your town? If you do, then see about posting a request on the bulletin board. How about a library? Even posting a "Are there any gamer groups out there" sign up might get noticed.

Don't give up entirely yet. Around here, summer months are pretty crappy for gaming. People are out doing other things with families and friends. Maybe once Fall and Winter set in, there will be more response.

Have you heard about the new D&D 4th edition? They're creating a means to play with your friends online - so if your friends from Madison don't want to drive out then perhaps setting up a weekly meeting online would be easier. Dunno.

Yeah, I've heard about 4th

Yeah, I've heard about 4th edition, and me and my bf are willing to look at it, but a lot of the people we've talked to about it refuse to even look at it at all. And the couple we found from Madison, REALLY don't want to drive 30 minutes in the winter, and I can kind of see their point. When it snows out here, 30 minutes usually turns into an hour or more. Lol.

There's one gaming store in Janesville, which is 5 minutes away, but it's not a very good one. We've talked to them there, but either no one's interested or they're already in a serious gaming relationship. Lol. I haven't thought about the library. I'll have to see about that idea.
